Privacy policy
This explains what we do with your personal information. The short version: we use it to make and send your order, and to talk to you about it. We don't sell it to anyone.
Who we are
Nostalgia Cases Ltd, trading as Nostalgia, is the data controller. Registered in Scotland, company no. SC592568. Registered office: 3F1 Third Floor, 3 Hill Street, New Town, Edinburgh EH2 3JP. Contact us about anything on this page at hello@nostalgia.co.uk.
What we collect
- Order details — your name, email, delivery and billing address, phone number, and what you bought. Payment is handled by our payment providers; we never see your full card number.
- What you give us to personalise a print — names, dates, photos, song choices, place names, running or cycling route files.
- How you use the site — pages viewed, device and browser, and your IP address, collected through cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
- Emails and messages — anything you send us, and whether you've opted in to marketing.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To make and deliver your order, and to help you with it — because we have a contract with you.
- To keep tax and accounting records — because the law requires it.
- To prevent fraud, improve the site and understand what's selling — because we have a legitimate interest in running the business properly.
- To send you marketing emails — with your consent, or where you've bought from us before and we're telling you about similar products. Unsubscribe any time from any email, or just reply and ask.
- To set non-essential cookies — with your consent.
A note on what you upload
Photos, route files and personal messages are yours. We use them to produce your print and nothing else. We won't publish anything you've sent us — on social media, the website or anywhere else — unless you've said yes first. Route files can show where you live or run, so we treat them accordingly.
Who we share it with
Only the companies that help us run the shop, and only what they need:
- Shopify — our shop platform and checkout
- Payment providers — Shopify Payments, PayPal and similar, to take payment
- Printing and fulfilment partners — to produce and pack your order
- Couriers — Royal Mail and other carriers, to deliver it
- Email and analytics tools — to send order updates and understand how the site is used
- Advertising platforms — where you've consented to marketing cookies
- Our accountant, and anyone we're legally required to tell
Some of these are outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the UK's approved safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
Order and tax records: 7 years, because HMRC requires it. Files you uploaded for personalisation: 12 months after your order, so we can reprint if you need it — ask and we'll delete them sooner. Marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to someone else. You can object to us using it for legitimate interests or marketing, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@nostalgia.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. It's free.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113. We'd rather you came to us first.
Children
Our shop is meant for over-18s. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think we have, tell us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date below, and tell you directly if the change is significant.
