Don Bluth's first feature made entirely at his new Dublin studio, and the film that went head to head with The Little Mermaid on the same November weekend. Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise recorded their scenes together rather than separately, and Bluth kept their ad-libs over the scripted lines. Underneath the songs it is a gambling picture about a con artist who cheats his way back out of the afterlife, which is not what most people remember being shown as children.
