High in the central highlands of Vietnam, Da Lat unfolds across rolling hills like a dream of somewhere else entirely. Once a retreat for French colonial officials, it still carries their villas and boulevards, softened now by mist and eucalyptus. This is a city that invites you to slow down and wander without hurry.
Stroll the shores of Xuan Huong Lake as cyclists pedal past flower gardens in full bloom. Climb to the Da Lat Railway Station, its Art Deco roofline a relic of a slower age, before the old train rattles you toward Trai Mat village. Explore the whimsical corridors of Hang Nga Guesthouse, better known as the Crazy House, where rooms twist like roots through concrete.
Beyond its landmarks, Da Lat is a city of harvests: strawberries, artichokes, and coffee grown on terraced hillsides. Wander the night market on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, sampling sweet corn and steaming banh trang nuong. As dusk settles, the hills soften into violet shadow, and the lake mirrors the lanterns above.
