Neil Marshall wrote, directed and edited his first feature for 2.3 million pounds, and shot the Scottish Highlands in Luxembourg, where the tax deal and the available crew were. Plans to film on the Isle of Man and then in Manitoba had both collapsed before that. Image FX built the werewolves as suits and animatronics rather than digital creatures, and in the United States the film went out not in cinemas but as a Sci-Fi Channel premiere.
