Eryri, land of dragons and rain-washed peaks, rises across north-west Wales in folds of slate and legend. Once known to the world as Snowdonia, it wears its older, native name with pride, calling you into a landscape where mountain and myth have never quite parted ways.
Follow the paths that climb toward Yr Wyddfa, highest ground in Wales, where the railway hisses up through cloud to a summit view of ridges falling away in every direction. Trace the jagged spine of Crib Goch, or let the quieter slopes of Cadair Idris hold their own claim on poets and dreamers. Below, Llyn Idwal mirrors the crags of the Glyderau, and the Watkin Path winds through woods and waterfalls once walked by Gladstone.
Beyond the peaks, Eryri is a country of slate villages and old tongues, where Welsh is spoken in the shops of Beddgelert and Betws-y-Coed. Castles at Harlech and Dolwyddelan keep watch over valleys once ruled by princes. Come autumn, the bracken turns copper across the hillsides.
