On Turkey's southwestern shore, where pine-clad mountains tumble into turquoise water, Fethiye unfolds as a town shaped by centuries of passing empires. Built atop ancient Telmessos, it wears its layered past lightly, letting harbour life and rocky heights share the same unhurried horizon.
Climb to the Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliffside above town, their facades echoing temple columns weathered by wind. Sail out among the Twelve Islands, where hidden coves invite a slow drift from one bay to the next. Beyond the town, the Blue Lagoon at Ölüdeniz glows beneath Babadağ, its slopes patrolled by paragliders drifting towards the shore.
Inland, the ghost village of Kayaköy stands empty and haunting, its stone houses abandoned to olive groves and silence.
