This is the original patent drawing for a floating fly or bait, granted on 16 January 1917 as US 1,212,752 to inventor John P. Fiebig. The sheet presents the lure from every angle, its body, hooks and buoyant form drawn and labelled to reveal just how it dances and drifts upon the water.

There's a wonderful whimsy in this drawing — an artful deception rendered as sober technical fact, equal parts craft, cunning and the eternal optimism of the angler.
