Bill Forsyth sends a Houston oil executive to buy a Scottish village, and lets the village quietly do the buying instead. The beach is Camusdarach near Morar and the village is Pennan in Aberdeenshire, where the red phone box became enough of a landmark that it is still standing. Mark Knopfler's score is why people who have never seen the film still know it.
