Perched above the Mediterranean on Andalusia's Costa del Sol, Nerja invites you into a world where whitewashed houses meet turquoise water and the pace of life softens beneath an endless sun. Since Moorish times this coast has drawn travellers to its cliffs and coves, and the town still wears that history with ease.
Wander to the Balcón de Europa, the palm-lined promontory where the Sierra Almijara tumbles down to meet the sea, and watch fishing boats cross a horizon that seems to fold into forever. Descend into the Cuevas de Nerja, vast limestone caverns hung with ancient stalactites. Along the shore, the coves of Burriana and Calahonda offer golden sand and calm water.
Beyond the coastline, Nerja's spirit lives in its tapas bars, its espeto of grilled sardines, and the scent of jasmine drifting through narrow lanes at dusk. Nearby, the white village of Frigiliana climbs its hillside in cobbled tiers. As evening falls, Nerja settles into its timeless Andalusian rhythm.
