This is the original patent drawing for a projecting kinetoscope, an early film projector granted on 2 December 1902 as patent 714,845 to inventor James H. White. The sheet reveals the mechanism in full — the lamp house, lens and film path drawn with the exacting detail of pioneering cinema engineering.

There's a genuine magic in seeing the dawn of the movies captured as a technical document, a flickering nod to nickelodeons, silent reels and the very first audiences held rapt in the dark.
