Zach Cregger's take on the game series follows Bryan, a medical courier on a last-minute delivery to Raccoon City General Hospital through the snowbound Colorado mountains, who drives straight into an outbreak caused by an Umbrella Corporation accident. Rather than bring back the games' familiar heroes, Cregger told an original story running alongside the events of Resident Evil 2. Sony won the rights after a four-studio bidding war, and the film was shot in Prague over the winter of 2025.
