Perched above a sheltered harbour on Antigua's northwest coast, St. John's greets every visitor with a wash of colour and Caribbean warmth. As the capital of this twin-island nation, it hums with an easy rhythm where pastel rooftops tumble toward turquoise water, and the calls of vendors mingle with the salt air.
Wander through St. John's Cathedral, its twin baroque towers rising above the skyline since the nineteenth century, a landmark for sailors and townsfolk alike. Browse the stalls of Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay, where old stone warehouses once tied to the sugar trade now hold galleries, rum shops and craft vendors.
