Kathryn Bigelow's film about recorded memories sold as a drug, set over the last two days of 1999 in a Los Angeles coming apart. The point-of-view sequences were shot with a purpose-built rig so they run unbroken, which took the crew weeks to work out. It lost a great deal of money and has been quietly gaining reputation ever since.
