Tbilisi, cradled between hills along the Mtkvari River, invites you into a city where East and West have long traded stories, spices, and songs. Domed bathhouses breathe sulphur-scented steam into narrow lanes, while balconies of carved wood lean over cobbled streets.
Climb to Narikala Fortress, its ramparts watching over the city since ancient times, and descend into Abanotubani, where the old sulphur baths still draw bathers. Cross the Bridge of Peace, its glass ribs glowing at dusk, and wander Rustaveli Avenue, lined with theatres and grand nineteenth-century façades. Above it all, the Kartlis Deda statue watches over Tbilisi with sword and wine cup.
