Penn Jillette and Paul Provenza asked around a hundred comedians to tell the same filthy, decades-old joke that comics share among themselves but almost never perform, and filmed every version. The set-up and punchline never change; everything in between is improvised, and the film celebrates how George Carlin, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Sarah Silverman and many more make it their own. At its heart is Gilbert Gottfried's famous telling at a Friars Club roast just weeks after 9/11. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2005.
