Ali Hazelwood's novel started out as Star Wars fan fiction before it became a bestseller, and the film keeps its fake-dating set-up: a biology PhD student kisses the first professor she sees to convince a friend she has moved on. Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman lead. Claire Scanlon directs, reuniting with composer Laura Karpman from Set It Up, and it was shot in Montreal over the summer of 2025.
