This is the original patent drawing for a drum beating mechanism — the bass drum pedal — granted on 30 January 1951 as patent 2,540,051 to William F. Ludwig. The sheet dissects the whole assembly in loving detail: the footboard, the spring, the beater and linkage that turn a tap of the foot into a driving, room-filling thump, each part precisely annotated.
