Golf Club Patent Print
An Edwardian answer to the eternal quest for a better club.
This is the original patent drawing for a golf club, granted on 22 November 1910 as US 976,267 to inventor Arthur F. Knight. The sheet lays out the club from grip to head, its shaft, hosel and striking face drawn and labelled to show the refinements meant to put a little more control into every shot.
There's a lovely period charm in this early design — a glimpse of the age of hickory and plus-fours, when the game was gentlemanly and every club was lovingly conceived.
